pHpHOPHOTOGRAPHS HINTS & TIPS
TheThe most important part of this whole process is the quality of the photograph - I can only paint what I see - I dont know the subject so have to take every detail from the reference photograph supplied.
It is vital that the photograph is clear and detailed, showing the subject in the pose that you would like in the finished picture.
I need to be able to zoom in to see certain details eg eye, nose etc
If in doubt contact me. The following guidelines may also help.
Make sure no part of the subject is in shadow

The eye is really important - does the photograph show the true colours?

-
Dont use flash - take the photograph in natural light
-
Think of the pose - is it an attractive pose for a painting?
-
Photographs from above tend to make a poor painting due to the perspective - try to take the photograph from the same height as the subject
-
If two or more subjects are to be painted it is fine to send a separate photograph for each one, just also remember to supply a 'group' photograph to enable me to see the height/size ratio of each subject
-
Please make sure you have permission to use the photograph you supply (eg if it has been taken professionally)
-
Once the painting has been completed and posted any photographs supplied digitally will be deleted
